In this segment of our What to Expect series, we will be discussing virtual appointments. We want to start out by explaining the difference between a virtual appointment and an in-person appointment.
There is none!
Every client receives the same opportunity and guidance regardless if they are sitting in the office, on the phone, or across the computer screen. And I have clients that strongly prefer each.
For example, sensitive matters are sometimes more easily expressed in person. However, busy parents and professionals sometimes find it easier to hop on a video call that saves the time and headache of the travel or finding childcare.
We used to think that an in-home appointment was the answer to this dilemma but when we heard how much stress it added to my clients feeling like they needed to clean the house before I showed up, Dobbs Legal Group Legal invested in better video conferencing software to make it easier on everyone. Besides, as a parent with 2 young kids and pets, my house is a disaster. I completely understand!
The Initial Consultation Call Itself
At Dobbs Legal Group we offer the first consultation by phone. This is for several reasons but namely we want to make sure that we are able to assist you in the legal issue at hand. This also allows for some people to get a question answered quickly and easily, or if we are the firm for you, to quickly start the intake process and receive documents as soon as possible!
The Intake Process
Once you hire our firm, and we hope that you do, we will have much more in-depth conversations about your legal issue, and the next steps including a fee agreement, link to our secure payment portal, and intake questionnaires. All of these items can be completed online through E-sign or convenient online forms.
Our lead attorney, Ryan Dobbs, will then reach out to you by phone or video call to get to put a face with a name and to speak more about your case.
When it comes time for the video conference itself, there are a couple of things to keep in mind.
We have several options depending on the needs of my clients. We will likely ask what you have used in the past. If you have been using Zoom and it is already configured on your device, great! We also have a secure video conference solution that is specific to law firms called Legaler.
Like Zoom, Legaler allows a conference feature and chat option where we can share links and information without the concern of a data breach.
If this is your first time meeting with Ryan Dobbs Legal you can expect about a 30-minute call.
This call is designed to allow us to meet and get to know each other a little bit. We will assess your needs and make sure we are the right solution for you. We will also make sure that you have the information you need to make an informed decision about your legal issue and how to hire our firm.
The Next Steps
Once we have the facts of the case, a signed fee agreement, and your initial payment, our team immediately gets to work on your legal documents in order to prepare the case.
We provide drafts of all documents in order to make sure the documents are correct but also to make sure you understand the documents and that we can explain the law pertaining to your case and how it affects our position.
After the documents are completed we send E-sign requests to conveniently sign the documents from your phone or computer. This allows you to save a trip to the office but also allows our firm to file documents faster and more efficiently.
